Obituary For Hannah McGee Fisher

Funeral services will be Saturday, December 5, 2020 at 3:00 p.m., Westhaven Funeral Home Chapel, 3580 Robinson Street, Jackson, MS 39209.

On November 29, 2020 at 8:56 a.m. Hannah McGee Fisher got her wings and went to walk with the angels through heaven’s gate into the waiting arms of the Lord. “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30 Hannah was born July 25, 1947 in Terry, MS to the late Willie and Louie Harvey McGee. She surrendered her life to Christ under the pastoral leadership of the late Elder Eddie Jones at Caney Creek Church of Christ Holiness (USA) where she was still a member under the leadership of Pastor Michael Pauline. Hannah attended Jackson State University where she received a bachelor’s in Early Childhood Education. After graduating, Hannah started her beautiful career as a kindergarten teacher. Her positivity and enthusiasm for teaching was so contagious that her students were motivated and eager to learn each and every day. Hannah’s teaching radiated nothing but love and light, so much so that she received a Teacher of the Year award from Mother Goose Christian Academy in 2018. Hannah was united in Holy Matrimony to Leroy Fisher on Sept 15, 1968. This union was blessed with two beautiful daughters. Hannah loved to read her bible, praying for and with others, spending time with family, cooking, laughing and always wearing a smile on her face. She was a loving and caring person, devoted wife, mother, and friend, always thinking of others first. “To know her was to love her.” Hannah leaves to cherish her loving memory in the heart of her loving and dedicated Husband Leroy; two daughters, Veronica Fisher- Purnell (Rufus) and LaShonda Fisher; one wonderful grandson, Joshua; three amazing grand-daughters, Victoria, Nyla, and MaKayla. One precious great-grandchild; Callie. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and church family are also left to celebrate her memory. Her life was a living example to one of her favorite Bible verses, Ephesians 4:32 “And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ”.
