J.D. Blocker, a lifelong resident of Terry, MS unexpectedly passed away on August 3, 2020 at the Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, MS. He is survived by his children, Shenice Blocker of Jackson, MS, and Aleea Blocker of Atlanta, GA. His Brother Lynell Blocker (Barbara) of Hazlehurst, MS. Three Grandchildren, Casshundra Jones of Jackson, MS, Ashton Jones of Atlanta, GA and Kazzie Jones of Atlanta, GA. Two Great grandchildren Charmen Turner and Chi’emi Turner both of Jackson, MS. His Special Friends Cass Smith, Helen Charleston and Emmanuel Dace. Also his nieces, a host of cousins, and friends. He is preceded in death by his mother, Pearlie Bingham-Blocker and his Father, J.G. Blocker J.D. Blocker was born in Terry, MS on September 3, 1952. He attended and graduated from Terry High School in 1971 and then attended Hinds Community College. Early in his career, he worked as an Electrical Technician for the Mississippi Power and Light Company which later became Entergy MS before becoming an entrepreneur fulltime. He successfully became Owner and Operator of Metro Non-Emergency Transportation and Utilicon Meter Services. He was also an independent Tax Professional and Grant Writer. In addition to entrepreneurship, J.D. became the first black Alderman of Terry, MS in 1989. However, as a dedicated servant of God and follower of Christ, his most cherished position was serving as Deacon of The Terry Mission Baptist Church. He served as a dedicated Deacon for over 30 years. The advancement and development of Terry Mission was his life’s mission and dear to his heart. As a pillar of the community and mentor, J.D. extended help to all those in need no matter the request. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all those who knew him.
