Obituary For Johnnie Willie Johnson

Funeral services will be Saturday, September 19, 2020 at 10:00 a.m., Autumn Woods Cemetery, 4000 W. Northside Drive, Jackson, MS 39209.

Willie Johnson transitioned to his heavenly home on Friday, September 4, 2020. Willie was born August 19, 1937 to the late W.C. and Celestine Johnson Wallace of Jackson, MS. Willie was raised by his uncle and aunt Charlie Harris (Bro. Charlie) and Bernice Harris of Raymond, MS, where he spent much of his childhood and some of his adult life. Willie confessed Christ at an early age and joined Mt. Center Missionary Baptist Church in Raymond, MS, under the leadership of Reverend E.D. Nelson. Willie moved to Jackson, MS and here he met Leneva Myles and they soon married in 1956. To this union they were blessed with four children. Willie was a man of many talents. He loved playing dominoes with his friends and family. He loved to cook. Willie’s passion for cooking led him to become head chef at King Edwards Hotel in downtown Jackson, MS, where he worked for many years. Willie also worked for the Colonial Golf Club as a cook. Willie is preceded in death by his parents W.C. Johnson and Celestine Wallace, four sisters Edna Lee Johnson Dupree, Ethel Maria Sanders, Mildred McCool, Willie Mae Randle and a brother Willie C. Johnson. Willie leaves to cherish his precious memories, four sons: Thaddaus Johnson (Denise), Shenard McDougal (Jeanette), Johnnie Willie Johnson, Jr. and Rodney McDougal (Corraine); four daughters: Cassandra Johnson Tripp, Ida Belle Johnson, Phyllis McDougal and Felicia Harden (Jermaine) all of Jackson, MS; one sister: Betty J. Joseph (Alvin Joseph, Sr.) of Pensacola, FL; three nieces: Barbara, Janice and Elizabeth; and a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren, cousins and friends.
