Obituary For Lucy Shelton McGregory

Funeral services will be Monday, December 28, 2020 at 11:00 a.m., Garden Memorial Park, 8001 Highway 49, Jackson, MS 39209.

Lucy Shelton McGregory made her transition on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at 303 Culberson Avenue, Jackson, MS. Lucy was born September 3, 1948, to Ephris Shelton and Hattie Brooks Shelton.

Lucy confessed and accepted Christ at an early age. She became a member of Oakland Missionary Baptist Church in Crawford, MS, She later joined College Hill Baptist Church in Jackson, MS and eventually joining Christ Tabernacle Church under the leadership of Pastor Hosea Hines. Lucy remained an active and faithful member until her death.

Lucy met and married Willie McGregory, her husband of 38 years and from this union came two beautiful children, Angela McGregory and Willie Jr. affectionately known as Mego.

Lucy was a generous, loving and giving person with strength and toughness to be admired. She attended Hunt High School and MUW. She leaves to keep her memories alive: her husband, Willie McGregory; daughter, Angela McGregory; son, Willie Jr. of Jackson, MS; grandchildren, TeDarien L. McGregory, Jeremiah D. Johnson, Alyssa S. Johnson, and Akira M. Johnson; great grandchild, Brooklyn R. McGregory; three sisters, Robertha Shelton of Mobile, AL; Dorothy (Jimmy) Lowe of Caledonia, MS; Easter (Robert) Fenton of Columbus, MS; four brothers, Ephris (Kattie) Shelton, Jr., Henry (Candance) Shelton of Indianapolis, IN; Van T. Shelton of Columbus, MS; Andra (Sandra) Shelton of Jackson, MS; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Lucy was preceded in death by her father, Ephris Shelton; mother, Hattie Brooks Shelton; sister, Cream E. Shelton; brother, J.C. Shelton; sisters, Edna J. Shelton Flood and Yvonne Shelton Johnson. Lucy will be missed by all but we know to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.
