To everything thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under heaven;
A Time to Be Born:
Luther was born into this world on August 24, 1932 to the late Charles and Jessie Bell (Myles) Jennings in Grenada, MS.
A Time to Love:
In 1960, Luther was united in holy matrimony to Robbie Louise Jiles. Luther and Robbie remained happily married for forty-six (46) years with an unwavering love for each other and the eight children they had together.
A Time to Find:
At an early age, Luther accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He later united with the Light of the World Baptist Church where he served as a faithful member until his death.
A Time to Laugh:
Luther was a Christian man who showed love and kindness to everyone that he met. Because of his strong and abiding faith in Jesus Christ, he was always willing to give and share whatever he had with anyone. He enjoyed life and loved to laugh.
A Time to Embrace:
Luther embrace his calling to spread the word of God through gospel music. Luther was a founding member of The Jackson Southernaires. Throughout his Christian ministry as a gospel singer, Luther traveled to a least forty-three (43) states and parts of Canada spreading the word of Jesus Christ through song. Luther touched many lives personally, in Jackson and across the United States so greatly, that many young men and women adopted him his dad. This will be witnessed today as all active pall bearers and other here adopted Luther as "Dad".
A Time to Weep:
Luther was preceded in death by his wife, Robbie Louise Jennings, a son, Joshua Maurice Jennings, his father, Charlie Jennings, Sr., and his mother, Jessie Bell Jennings.
A Time to Heal:
Left to cherish his memories are his seven adoring children: Clarence (Dana), Charles (Joe Ella), Angela, Turesa, Edith Chyrel, Luther, Jr., Cynthia and Ivory all of Jackson, MS; three brothers; Major, Charlie and Kelly; sixteen loving grandchildren; Jerry, Deskaray, Melondy, Marva, Kinte, Shana, Shalene, LaMarcus, Jarneka, Ebony, Crystal, Luther, III, Benjamin, Kiersten, Amber and Depaul ten great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
A Time to Rejoice:
On Wednesday evening, May 8, 2019, Luther answered the call of the Master. In his own way he said "And I heard a voice from heaven unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth, Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them". Rev. 14:13
I am sorry to hear of Luther's transition and that I am not able to be with you all during this most difficult time. Sending my sincere condolences, love and prayers to the you all. May God continue to encamp His angels around you all today and the days ahead.
