Pastor R. E. Cook, Sr., age 80, was born on March 9, 1945, in Magnolia, Mississippi, to the late Joseph Cook and Hattie Weatherspoon Cook. A faithful servant of God and visionary leader, he answered the divine call to establish Greater New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church in Jackson, Mississippi, where he served as founding pastor with unwavering devotion and sacred purpose until the Lord called him home.
Pastor Cook was a spiritual pillar within the city of Jackson—revered for his steadfast faith, compassionate heart, and lifelong commitment to shepherding God’s people. After a life poured out in faithful service to the Kingdom, he peacefully transitioned from labor to reward on January 18, 2026, entering eternal rest in the presence of the Lord. As the Word declares, “Blessed are they which die in the Lord.”
