Funeral services will be Saturday, January 11, 2020 at 1:00 p.m., Pearl Street A.M.E. Church, 2519 Robinson Street, Jackson, MS 39209 with burial in Garden Memorial Park, 8001 Highway 49, Jackson, MS 39209.

The Reverend Dr. Jacob William Hilton, Jr. is a second generation, lifelong African Methodist Episcopal child of God. He was the son of the late Rev. J.W. Hilton, Sr. and Alberta A. Hilton who nurtured his soul with fire-side training. He was born in Hattiesburg, MS, April 5, 1949. Since his father was an itinerant pastor and was later elevated to the office of presiding elder. It was because of the power of God that J.W. Hilton, Jr. was also elevated to that same office. Before Reverend Dr. William Hilton, Jr. grew to be a wise man in the Lord, he attended school in Natchez, MS at Sadie V. Thompson High School. He also attended Jackson State University in Jackson, MS. After he accepted the call to preach, he was admitted to the East Mississippi Conference in September 1999 and studied the ministry to be ordained through Bonner Campbell School of Religion - Edwards, MS, Southwestern Christian Theological Institute, San Antonio, TX and at each Lannual Conference he was appointed pastor to these churches not listed in chronological order in Mississippi: Avery Chapel-Brookhaven, Little Rock-Bude, Zion Hill - Ridgeland, Nolen Hill - Fayette, New Hope - Jackson, Lampton Chapel - Canton, China Grove - Madison, Union Paradise - Vaughn, Bonner Institutional - Jackson. He was presiding Elder of the following districts: Natchez - Port Gibson, Brookhaven-Hattiesburg, Jackson- Greenwood, and Jackson-Vicksburg. On October 20, 2013, he was transferred to the LA Conference and was appointed Presiding Elder of the Central New Orleans Bogalusa District. He is the loving husband of Sis. Vivian Williams Hilton. He is the loving father of three children: Chandi Ellis (Cleveland Jr.—deceased), Lakiesa Hunt and Chastity Kelly of Jackson, MS; grandchildren: Darius Ellis, DeJuan Ellis, Deanna Ellis, D’Anthony Ellis, Javonne Hunt, Jamal Hunt, Stephan Hunt, Cameron Hunt, William Liddell III, Christian K. Hilton, Marekas McGowan and Reddrick Kelly, Jr.; and great grandchildren: Airianna Ellis and Ryleigh K. Mallory; his brothers: James Hilton (Annette), David Hilton (Barbara Ann) and Ferdinard Hilton (Natalie); sister: Ellen Hamilton; uncles: Charlie Hamilton of New Orleans, LA; Booker T. Hilton of Hattiesburg, MS; and Robert Oscar Hilton (Barbara) of Columbus, OH; aunts: Faynella Carson (Saunders) of Columbus, OH; Inez Dixon (George - deceased) of Rose Hill, MS; a host of nieces, cousins and friends.
