Mrs. Rosia Nell Hodges Cook, an esteemed educator and cherished community member, passed away peacefully on November 9, 2023, in Jackson, Mississippi. Born in the St. James and Rose Hill Communities, Rosia dedicated 31 years to teaching in the South Pike School District and continued her mentorship for 15 years post-retirement.
Rosia is survived by her husband, Reverend Robert E. Cook; daughters Angela Wilson and Dr. Kristi (Tony) Macklin; bonus daughter Felicity Weatherspoon; granddaughters Kali and Kyia Smith; stepchildren Yolanda Cooper, Angela Egans, Tracey Cook, Robert Cook Jr, and Earl Cook; sister Vivian Whiten; brother Charles (Linda) Hodges; and uncle Cecil Hodges. Her passing is mourned by her extended family and the countless lives she touched.
Services:
Memorial Service: November 16, 2023, 6:00 pm at Greater New Jerusalem, Jackson, Mississippi.
Funeral Service: November 17, 2023, 1:00 pm at New Jerusalem Baptist Church, Magnolia, Mississippi.
Rosia's life of love, faith, and dedication to education leaves a lasting legacy. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew her.
