In honor of Mr. Whisenton, Rest in Peace. He taught me Physics at Velma Jackson High School (Class of 1968)
We are deeply saddened by this loss. He was not only a dedicated teacher, but also a talented music director who inspired students both in the classroom and through his love of music. His guidance, passion, and kindness made a lasting difference in so many lives. He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered. Class of 1985
In honor and memory of a compassionate, dedicated, honorable, gifted, giving and intelligent God fearing man, we the 10 Children of the late Lee Ervin Dinkins, Sr and Cleola Dinkins Evans express our sincere condolences to the family of our Beloved Teacher. We all had the blessing of having him impact our lives whether we sat in his classroom or saw him in the hallway. For me, as the eldest, his holding me accountable at a critical point in my life reinforced to me that it's not about the mistake I made but how I chose to live after the mistake. Would I let the mistake define me or would I learn and grow out of the mistake. I'm thankful that he looked beyond where I was to where I could be and through his chastisement motivated me to go beyond.

Rest in peace my brother in Omega Chapter. I pray that your spirit be comforted in the arms of the Lord. Prayers and condolences to your family. ♎️💜Your brothers will miss you.
What a legendary giant of a father! He was an inspiration to everyone who crossed his path — A devoted teacher and choir director extraordinaire, gifted in chemistry and physics, an Omega man, and above all, a lover of Christ. He's now safe in the arms of Jesus! Love you dad, your daughter, Danita! 🤎🤍
Condolences to the family - Mr. Whisenton was a very sincere and dedicated teacher. I just loved the way he pronounced the K and J Shell. He knew his Chemistry and should have easily taught in a college setting. Love you Mr. Whisenton and I will forever remember you.........Linda Lacy-Carson: Class of 1974, Velma Ware Jackson High School, Camden, MS
