Sekila, thank you for welcoming my daughter and I into your amazing Girl Scout Troop. I'm so grateful I had the opportunity to tell you face to face what an amazing, kind and awesome leader you were. God bless your Lovely family.
Remember life and then your life becomes a bigger one. You were a beautiful friend, and amazing person. Your life will always be remembered. Love Michelle
Condolences to the bereaved family. Sekila was a burst of sunshine around the VA. Always a smile and or a sweet word. May she continue to rest in heaven. God bless the family.
Many thanks for a life well lived. Always happy and always helpful. Peace and prayers with her family she loved so much.
I worked with Sekila at the VA until I retired in 2007. She was always smiling and friendly. She was also very smart. She really helped me out a lot with learning how to create spreadsheets and many other computer challenges. It just seemed to come so easy for her. If I ran into a problem and had to call her because I had a deadline or a crisis, she would always run to my aid. She was one of the ones that I missed the most when I left the VA. I'm sure she will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.
Sekila was a heart of gold. She went to a sister church and I remember it like it was yesterday when she would invite us all to her house for dinner. Her youngest daughter loved playing with me and always gave me the biggest hugs when she saw me. Sekila always encouraged me to reach for the stars and aim for greatness. She had a way that she would make me feel so loved and safe with her compassion. A heart of gold is beyond a description of who she was. She loved God, her family and was a woman of love! She spoke love and loved the kind of life where when she was described the definition of her was love and kindness. It's a blessing to have known her because her heart and her life work has always been an inspiration. We pray for her family in this time and pray God gives you the strength you need and assurance that your loved one is in his presence.
My condolences to all who were warmed by her light. May your memories of her bring you joy and strength.
Sekila was always such a positive voice in our very troubled world. She will be missed by all of us.
Sekila was one of the first people I met in high school, at marching band camp. She was so kind, so funny, so full of life. Example: I was at my locker one day when she insisted - nicely but firmly - that I sign a petition. That's how I became the third member of the Black Student Union. We were friends throughout high school, and then I followed her to UVA. We lost touch after college, but I was thrilled to find her again on Facebook. I'm praying for your family, especially Big Girl and Little Girl, as she called you.
You will be missed, RIH
