Mrs. Stella Campbell Miller, age 81, of Jackson, Mississippi, was welcomed home on Friday, August 1, 2025. She was born in Jackson, the daughter of the late James A. Campbell and Ada Mae Robinson Campbell. She accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age. She was a 1961 graduate of Lanier High School, where she was a Majorette and a member of the Marian Anderson Music Club. She attended Jackson State University, where she majored in Social Work. With her skills and her love for children, she began working in social services at the Frederick Douglass Center in Toledo, Ohio. She worked there for many years before moving back to her hometown of Jackson, Mississippi, where she served as a 911 Dispatcher for the city of Jackson until her retirement in 2008. After retirement, she enjoyed an active lifestyle with her devoted daughter, Tracy, traveling all over the world. She loved spending time with her friends (The Windsong Crew) going to brunch, coffee shops, shopping, and traveling to New Orleans, Memphis and the Coast. One of her proudest moments she enjoyed was teaching her children and grandchildren about the past and what they could accomplish in the future.
She was preceded in death by her father, James Albert Campbell; mother, Ada Mae Campbell; husband, Jethro Miller; daughter, Paula Kay Miller (Dinkins); sister, Edna Campbell, brother, Carvin “Rock” Campbell and her favorite furbaby, Llewellyn “Lulu” Laury.
Her memories will be cherished by her devoted brothers and sisters: Charlie Campbell (Linda) and Victor Campbell of Toledo, Ohio; Archie Campbell of Detroit, Michigan; Ted Campbell of Jackson, Mississippi; Ann Shields (Isadore) of Rosharon, Texas; Patricia Williams of Atlanta, Georgia; Margaret Campbell of St. Louis, Missouri; Grace Coleman, Linda Richmond, and Shelia Evans (James) all of Jackson, Mississippi.
She is survived by her loving daughters and son: Lisa Smith (Selvin) of Griffin, Georgia; Tracy Laury of Houston, Texas; and Corey Miller of Toledo, Ohio.
Fond memories will be remembered by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Tiffany Dinkins of Houston, Texas; Destiny Dinkins of Jackson, Mississippi; E.J. Dinkins (Nena) of Oklahoma City; Kayla and Briana Smith of Griffin, Georgia; Alexia Miller of Washington, D.C.; Myan, Kaylan, Levi of Houston, Texas; A’Nyla and Kyzar Dinkins, all of Jackson, Mississippi; Riyah Smith of Griffin, Georgia; Caleb, Kalani, Leilani of Oklahoma City; Ethan Dinkins of Jackson, Mississippi, and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Sharing a loving memory of my Aunt Stella Campbell Miller, a beautiful person inside and out, I will definitely missed your laughter, smile, and your kind words of wisdom. It warms my heart thinking of the family events, Thanksgiving dinners and funny conversations we had together. Aunt Stella loved visiting family, shopping and traveling. I appreciate her watching over me when we worked together with the City of Jackson, hearing her voice on the police radio, with words of encouragement and wisdom, kept myself and all the officers safe. I will miss and will always love you auntie, you are in good company in heaven. May God bless our family with strength, faith and peace. Love, Jo Ann
