Dr. Germaine Denise Cummings, M.D. entered into rest on Saturday, September 12, 2020 at Emory University Hospital, Atlanta, Georgia.
Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday September 18th, at Mount Olive Memorial Gardens with Rev. Dr. Craig L. Oliver officiating. The service will be live streamed on Facebook (Mays W H Mortuary).
*Public viewing Thursday, September 17, 2020 from 2:00-7:00 p.m. at the mortuary.
Germaine was born on April 28th, 1972 in Augusta, Georgia. Germaine is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James (Madine) Cummings. She was preceded in death by her sister Netarsha Denine Cummings.
Germaine graduated from A.R. Johnson Health Science and Engineering High School in 1990. She attended Albany State University where she graduated Magna Cum Laude and was a MARC Scholar. She earned the Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, in 1994.
Dr. Cummings was a 1999 graduate of Morehouse School of Medicine, Atlanta, Georgia. She completed her Family Practice Residency at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, Texas 2002.
Dr. Cummings completed her Fellowship in Geriatric medicine at Emory University School of Medicine, Atlanta Ga. 2003. After working at Emory for two years she opened her own Family and Geriatric practice 2005 in Loganville, Ga.
Dr. Cummings served on the board of Directors for the NBCA, National Caucus and Center on Black Aging, Inc, Washington, D.C
This phenomenal humanitarian-this woman of valor-this lady of compassion leaves a host of survivors which includes her loving and devoted parents, James and Madine Cummings; five supportive aunts, Ms. Ladonna Davis, Ms. Patricia A. Williams, Ms. Freda M. Hughes, Mrs. Tracye (Rickey) Murray, all of Augusta and Mrs. Norma (Jerry) Bass, Virginia Beach, VA; two prayerful uncles, Mr. Dennis Hughes, Augusta and Mr. Timothy (Shanna) Hughes, Atlanta; two very dear first cousins, Mrs. Audrey (Steven) Burton, TegaCay, S.C. and Mr. Glenn Gaines, Augusta; and a host of Godchildren, cousins, other relatives, and friends of devotion and distinction.
