In Loving Memory of Colonel Humphrey L. Peterson Jr., U.S. Army, Retired

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Colonel Humphrey L. Peterson Jr., U.S. Army, Retired, who departed this life on September 24, 2026, at the age of 91.

Colonel Peterson was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and respected military leader. He is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Constance Peterson; his son and daughter-in-law Kevin and Henriette Peterson, and his granddaughters, Ashley and Shelby Peterson.

His life was one of service, dedication, love, and commitment to his family and community. His legacy will live on through the many lives he touched and, most especially, through the family he loved so dearly.

Public visitation will be held Thursday, October 1, 2026 from 6:00PM to 7:00PM, an Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Omega Service will follow at 7:06 PM. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, October 2, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 1223 Laney Walker Boulevard, Augusta, Georgia. The remains will lie in state one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Westover Memorial Park, 2601 Wheeler Road, Augusta, Georgia with military honors.
