Linzie “L.J.” Johnson would be often found traveling in his pickup truck or finding the best fishing spots for family and friends to enjoy spending time together.
Linzie was born on September 15, 1946, in Aiken County, South Carolina to Mr. Johnnie and Willie May Johnson, and departed this life to join his heavenly Father on January 10, 2022. He was a graduate of Jefferson High School in Clearwater, SC.
Mr. Linzie enjoyed the outdoor life, from landscaping, fishing, and exploring the world. He was a skilled card player, bowler, and baseball fanatic. Linzie was a member of the Masonic Lodge M.W Grand Lodge of Georgia. He was also a Trustee at Hammond Grove Word Power Ministry.
He retired as a Lieutenant Correction Officer with the Richmond County Correction Center after over 30 years of dedicated service. Linzie was preceded in death by his parents, two sons (Brian Johnson and Reginald Boyd) and five siblings (Leroy, Woodrow, Simon, Lester, Sallie Mae, and Patricia).
Those left to cherish the memories of Linzie are his wife of 34 years Patricia Johnson, one sister, Lottie Jones of Augusta, GA; one brother, Johnnie Johnson of New York, NY; one son, Linzie Bernard (Erica) Johnson, Sr. of Lynchburg, VA; three daughters, Leslie (Raymond) Manigault of Greenville, S.C., Khristen Johnson of Tallahassee, FL, and Martha Johnson of Chapel Hill, NC. He also leaves behind five grandchildren, Evelyn (Ryan) Norris, Linzie B. Johnson Jr., TyDaja Manigault, Raymond Manigault Jr., Aniya Johnson; two great grandchildren, (Sebastian and Asher Norris); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Public visitation will be held Friday, January 14, 2022 from 5:00 to 7:00PM at the mortuary. Graveside services will be conducted Saturday, January 15, 2022 at 1:00PM at Hammond Grove Word Power Ministry Cemetery. All CDC, social distance, and face covering guidelines will be observed.
