Shirley Ann Brown, 73, of Augusta, Georgia, passed away July 27, 2024, in Humble, Texas, after bravely battling a lengthy illness. In her last moments, she was surrounded by her loving family.

Shirley was born November 23, 1950, in Augusta, Georgia. She was the daughter of the late Horace and Lorine Brown. She was preceded in death by six of her siblings; Annie-Kate Lowe, Gregory Brown, Catherine Tolson, James Brown, LorraineLindsay, and Gerald Brown Sr.

Shirley graduated from Lucy Craft Laney High School in 1967. After attending college at Morris Brown in Atlanta, Georgia, she was a flight attendant for Delta Airlines for several years. Shirley later moved back to Augusta to care for her parents while also working for SRS and as a substitute teacher. She also Remained active in Lucy Laney Alumni Association.

At an early age, Shirley was baptized at Bethel A.M.E church in Augusta, Georgia and remained an active member.

In 1998 she became a member of Tabernacle Baptist church in Augusta, Georgia where she was a dedicated deaconess and choir member for over two decades.

Shirley was one of a kind and very selfless. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, traveling, faithfully attending church, and cooking. Although she did not have any biological children, she did an outstanding job raising four children: Trennessa Brown (Marcel) Smith, Gerald Brown Jr., Destini Brown (Carlos) Ruiz and Diaminz Brown as her own.

Shirley is survived by her children, siblings: Barbara Brown Ferguson, Humble, Tx.; Doris Brown Morris, Atlanta, Ga.; Linda Brown (Curtis) Dunn, Porter, Tx.; Horace Brown Jr., Michael Brown, and Timothy Brown of Augusta, Ga., and a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, cousins and close friends.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, August 9, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 1223 Laney Walker Boulevard, Augusta, GA. The remains will lie in state one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Walker Memorial Park, 611 Laney Walker Boulevard.
