Billy Charles Akins was born on April 14, 1952, in California to Billy Ray Charles and Eleanor Akins, and he lived a life defined by kindness, generosity, and quiet strength. He passed away on June 27, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of compassion, hard work, and unwavering love for those around him. He was also lovingly helped in his upbringing by his stepmother, Edna Akins, whose care and support played an important role in his life.

He had a deep love for animals and found great joy in raising fish and birds, a hobby that reflected his patient and gentle nature. An avid landscaper, he had a remarkable ability to create beauty wherever he went. In his younger years, there seemed to be no project too difficult or challenge too great—if something needed fixing or building, he always found a way to figure it out.

One of his greatest gifts was his heart. He never judged others, choosing instead to meet everyone with kindness and understanding. His home was a place of comfort, where friends and strangers alike could always find a warm meal, a place to rest, or simply someone willing to listen. He lived life on his own terms, with authenticity and quiet confidence, and those who knew him admired him for it.

He was a proud retired member of the United Brothers and valued the friendships and fellowship he found there throughout his life. At a later time, there will be a memorial ride held in his honor with the United Brothers of Wise County chapter.

He is lovingly survived by his daughters, Brandy Karr and Moriah Hale and her husband, Caleb Hale; and by his cherished grandsons, Asher Karr, Troyce Hale, and Logan Martz. He is also survived by his sister, Karen Akins; children Alicia and Brandon. his brother, Michael Akins; his favorite aunt, Dorothy Morgan; his cousin, Tammy Morgan and son Dusty; and close friends Lisa Hale and Betty Akins. His family was a source of great pride, and his love for them will continue to be felt in the lives they lead.

Though he is no longer with us, the lessons he taught through simple acts of kindness, his willingness to help anyone in need, and his appreciation for life’s simple pleasures will live on. He leaves behind a world made gentler by his presence and hearts forever grateful for the time they shared with him.
