Obituary For Chad Michael Shook

Chad Michael Shook, 49, of Bowie, Texas, passed away peacefully with his loving wife by his side on September 14, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Visitation will take place on Sunday, September 20, 2026, from 4:00–6:00 p.m. at the White Family Funeral Home in Bowie, Texas.

Funeral services will take place on Monday, September 21, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Cowboy Church in Henrietta, Texas. Officiant Chris Osborne and Eulogy by Greg Sullivan.

Following the service, Chad will be laid to rest at Lake Creek Cemetery.

Chad was born on September 26, 1976, to Craig Shook and Tammy Perez. He grew up in Iowa Park, Texas, where he attended Iowa Park High School and later Vernon Regional Junior College. Chad was a hard worker from the beginning. He was a welder by trade before moving into management with EOG. He had a strong work ethic and was never one to sit still for long. If there was something that needed to be done, Chad was usually the one doing it.

Growing up, Chad loved being active and competitive. He played soccer and football, raced BMX bicycles and carts, and carried that competitive spirit throughout his life. He enjoyed NASCAR, MMA, horse racing, and just about anything that gave him an opportunity to have a little fun—and he almost always had a side bet going somewhere along the way.

But more than anything, Chad loved his family.

Chad built a life centered around the people he loved most. He poured his time and energy into his children and especially loved coaching his girls in their sports. He could often be found on the sidelines, in the stands, or wherever his family needed him. Family gatherings, cookouts, holidays, and trips were some of his favorite times—not because of where they were or what they were doing, but because of who was there.

Chad never met a stranger. He had a way of making friends wherever he went, and it seemed that everywhere he went, he ran into someone he knew. His stories, humor, competitive nature, and larger-than-life personality left an impression on the people around him. He was the kind of person who could walk into a room and somehow make it feel more like home.

Chad was also a Christian man whose faith was an important part of his life. He faithfully sponsored a child to attend church camp every summer, quietly investing in the life of another and helping give them an opportunity to experience the love of Christ.

Though cancer took much from Chad, it never took away the things that made him who he was—his love for his wife, who was by his side throughout his battle, and love for his family, his faith, his determination, his work ethic, his sense of humor, or the countless memories he created with the people he loved.

Chad leaves behind a family who loves him deeply and who will carry his memory forward in the stories they tell, the traditions they continue, and the lives he helped shape.

He is survived by his wife, Lacey Shook; his parents, Craig and Diane Shook and Tammy Perez; his children, Madison Jacobi and husband Nathan, Haiden Shackleford and husband Carter, Dani Shook and partner Grayson Eudy, Kori Shook, Kase Humpert, and Londyn Humpert; his grandchildren, Charlotte, Augustine, Kam, and Kate; his siblings, Brad Shook and wife Asami and Ashley Fugett and husband Rusty; his grandparents, Darlene Skelton and Kay Clayton; his in-laws, Rosey and Sonny Scruggs, Lindsey Rhoades and husband Bryan, and Loren Rhoades and husband Graig; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and countless friends who loved him dearly.

Chad was preceded in death by his grandparents, Don Skelton; Billye and Arlen Shook; and Willie Clayton, as well as several aunts and uncles.

Chad’s life was measured not only in years, but in the people he loved, the lives he touched, the memories he made, and the legacy he leaves behind.

His race here is finished. His work is done. His faith has become sight.

And while his family will miss him more than words can say, they can hold tightly to the promise that this is not goodbye forever—it is simply “see you later.”
