Obituary For Charles William Ulbig
Charles William Ulbig, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend left this world on September 14, 2026, in Decatur, Texas, surrounded by family to be united with his Lord and Savior in heaven. He was 87 years old.
A rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, September 18, in the chapel of the White Family Funeral Home.
A mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, September 19, at 10:00 a.m. at St. William Catholic Church in Montague, Texas.
Charles was born on October 7, 1938, in Montague, Texas, to Melvin and Rosa Ulbig. He grew up on the family farm and attended Nocona High School, graduating in 1957. On December 26, 1964, Charles married his lifelong sweetheart, Rose Fenoglio, at St. William Catholic Church. Together, they built a life that revolved around the two most important things in their lives - their faith and family. Charles and Rose raised their three children, Chris, Christy, and Chad, in Montague. Both Rose and Charles were lifelong, faithful members of St. William Catholic Church. After 50 years of marriage, Rose preceded Charles in death, but their love and the family they built remain a lasting part of their legacy.
Following six years of faithful service to his country in the United States Army National Guard, Charles returned home where he dedicated over 38 years of service to the Texas Department of Transportation. He also worked as a cattle rancher and peanut farmer, taking great pride in his land and the animals he raised. He especially loved being outdoors on his land, caring for his cattle, and working the land that meant so much to him.
Charles was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Rose; his parents, Melvin and Rosa Ulbig; and his brother, Eddie Ulbig. Charles is survived by his three children: Chris Ulbig and wife Jamie of Montague; Christy King and husband John of Argyle; and Chad Ulbig and wife Sulema of Montague. He is also survived by his six grandchildren: Wesley King and wife Michelle of Montague, Kaylie Brown and husband Peyton of Denton, Connor Ulbig of Lubbock, Bryce and Syd Hamilton of Bowie, and Noah Ulbig of Montague; and two great-grandchildren, Thomas and James King of Montague. He is also survived by his siblings Kenneth Ulbig and wife Cyndie and sister Helen Ulbig.
Charles will be remembered for his strong work ethic, love of family, devotion to his faith, and deep appreciation for the land he loved and cared for so faithfully. His memory will continue to live in the hearts of his family and in all who knew and loved him.
