David Handley Bowen, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 23, 2025, at the age of 78.
A celebration of David’s life will be held at Montague County Cowboy Church on November 1 at 10:00am. Friends and family are invited to come together to honor a man whose faith, strength, and love of life will continue to inspire all who knew him.
Born on January 10, 1947, to Charles Bowen and Harriet Handley Bowen, David grew up in Dallas with a strong sense of faith, family, and community that carried him throughout his life.
David is survived by his devoted wife, Carolyn Bowen, who was his steadfast partner and best friend for the last 10 years. He leaves behind two children, Allison Hastings and Travis Bowen, and a beloved stepdaughter, Robyn Collins. His legacy continues through his 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, each of whom brought him immense pride and joy.
A lifelong Texan, David was an avid team roper and a proud Texas Tech Red Raider, rarely missing a chance to cheer on his team in any sport. His love for the cowboy way of life was matched only by his deep and abiding faith in Jesus. David was an active member of the Montague County Cowboy Church, where his warm smile, helping hands, and love for singing touched many.
David’s presence filled every room with laughter, kindness, and authenticity. Whether he was in the saddle, cheering from the stands, or gathered around a family table, he lived fully and loved deeply.
Though he has gone on to join his Savior and loved ones who passed before him, David’s spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who were blessed to know him.

"How priceless is your unfailing love, O God! People take refuge in the shadow of your wings. They feast on the abundance of your house; you give them drink from your river of delights.
