Donald Wayne McEwen, 84 of Bowie, TX, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 11th, 2022 in Decatur, TX.
A memorial service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 14th, at the White Family Funeral Home in Bowie, with Rex Hamilton officiating.
Don was born June 28, 1937 in Olney, TX to Nathaniel and Beatrice (Blewett) McEwen. He graduated from Megargel High School in 1955, and on October 29, 1955, Don married Marie Fallin in Megargel, TX. He worked for Oak Farms Dairy company for 28 years, and retired as supervisor. Then worked for Bowie Industries for 5 years, and Bowie Butane for 19 years until his retirement. He later drove a school bus for Bowie I.S.D. for 17 years.
Don's passion was for riding horses, and he was a longtime member of the A.A.S.P. & R.C. Association. He loved fishing and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Don will be remembered as a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters June McWhorter and Faye Johnson, and brother Jack McEwen.
Don is survived by his wife of 66 years, Marie McEwen of Bowie; children Don McEwen Jr. and wife Marilyn of Charlie, TX, Delores McEwen and partner Ray of Glenwood, AR, and Tommy McEwen and wife Jeni of Montague, TX; 7 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson; sister Gay Richardson and husband Tom of Seymour, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was my pawpaw too and I'm going to miss him. He was one of a kind and the best neighbor and pawpaw a girl could have. Prayers for peace and comfort.
Don was a very sweet, caring, loving man. He welcomed everyone with open arms and heart. He always greeted people with a smile on his face. Prayers for everyone during this time.
Don was the most loving, friendly, and welcoming gentleman to grace this earth. I am so proud I got to call him papaw! He will be dearly missed, many hugs and prayers to you all!
