Frances Demoyn (Jones) Chappell passed away on June 17, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
A memorial service celebrating Frances’ life will be held on Monday, June 22, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Freedom Life Church in Bowie, Texas.
Frances was born on December 27, 1937, in Wichita Falls, Texas, to Babe (E.E.) and Lonnie (Underwood) Jones. She married the love of her life, Johnnie Lowell Chappell, on May 30, 1955.
Frances was a devoted Christian and a faithful member of the Church of Christ. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for her kindness, strength, and the love she so freely gave to her family throughout her life. She was known for her beautiful smile and infectious laugh that could light up any room.
She is survived by her daughter, Sheila Duggan and husband Jim of Granbury, Texas; sons Lowell Wayne Chappell of Bowie, Texas, and Adam Chappell and wife Brittany of Springtown, Texas.
She is also survived by her grandchildren: Sarah Chappell; Justin Lowell Chappell and wife Heather; Kimberly Cox and husband Michael; Cole Alan Walker; and Randi Kaye Brewer and husband Evan.
Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren: Lauren Baumeister; Harrison Chappell; Hinson Chappell; Carson Cox; Hayden Cox; Weston Walker; Brynlee Walker; Wyatt Walker; Lileigh Kaye Brewer, G.W. Brewer; Kendal Chappell; Truxton Chappell; and Rhett Chappell.
Frances is also survived by her sisters Doris Morris of Denton and Bobbie Diharce of Denton, and her brother Lee Wayne Jones and wife Louise of Bowie, Texas. She is further survived by sisters-in-law Linda Shiflet and husband Ralph of Argyle, Texas, and Glenda Buck and husband Don of Arkansas.
Fran was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of 67 years, Johnnie Lowell Chappell, whom we are sure welcomed her to Heaven with open arms; and her daughters Toni Carol, Lisa Marie, and Darla DeAnn Chappell.
She was also preceded in death by her great-granddaughter Sydney Erin Chappell; daughter-in-law Vickie Sue (Henry) Chappell; and sister-in-law Mary (Deleen) Ruebush, with whom she shared many laughs and cherished memories.
Frances was a homemaker and a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She graduated from nursing school in 1974 and continued her nursing career until her retirement in 2000. She deeply loved being a nurse and was known for the compassion and care she gave to her patients.
She was also an excellent seamstress, cook, and baker, and loved embroidery. She was especially known for her homemade jelly and her famous peach cobbler, which her grandchildren always requested. She was also an avid volleyball player, excelling at the sport and thoroughly enjoying it throughout her life. She also played volleyball on city leagues in Euless, Texas.
