Frankie “Renabelle” Garrett, 82 of Sunset, TX was called home to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 18th, 2024.
Funeral services for Renabelle will be Saturday, February 24th at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Bowie, with family visitation prior to the service at the church from 1:00-2:00 p.m.
Burial will follow at Sunset Cemetery.
Renabelle was born May 16th, 1941 in Sunset, to Sallie Eula and James Frank Whitaker. She attended Sunset School and graduated from Bowie High School in 1959. She married Billy Gene Garrett on June 20th, 1959 and was married for 64 wonderful years.
She worked as a truck driver, bus driver, and as a medication aide for over 30 years. After retirement she enjoyed farm life, loved to fish, and tag along with her daughter Kathy to watch all of her grandchildren’s sporting events. Renabelle never met a stranger and loved every kid that came around as her own.
She is preceded in death by her parents Sallie Eula and James Frank Whitaker, sisters, Maureen Elrod, Leatrice Baker, Irene Houston, and brothers, Pack Whitaker, Charlie Whitaker, Wayne Whitaker, Leland Whitaker, Morgan Whitaker, and a newborn brother.
Renabelle is survived by her husband, Gene Garrett; two daughters, Kathy Whatley and husband Robert of Sunset, and Betty Sanders of Bowie; Eight grandchildren, Sallie Gilliam and Justin of Quanah, Bailey Yerby and Zane of Greeley, CO, Gabby Whatley of Bowie, AJ Whatley of Stephenville, Cruz Whatley of Sunset, Christian Whatley of Sunset, Holly Fenoglio and Tony of Nocona, Dakota Gantt and Jeremy of Blooming Grove; Six great-grandchildren, Whitten and Sterling Gilliam, Alayne Yerby, Emory Cauthen, Dax and Lynnox Gantt.

Renabelle was a very special person for sure. She always had a way of lifting your spirits. I witnessed so I'll never forget how amazing Renabelle played volleyball Wow! My mother-in-law Grace Clayton of Chico was her teammate and she loved to set Renabelle up to "spike' the volleyball nobody did that spiking like her.
