Obituary For Gary Lynn Cornelison

Gary Lynn Cornelison(Doc), 80 of Bowie, Texas went to be with our Lord on August 22, 2024.

A memorial service will take place on Tuesday, August 27th, 2024 at 4:00 PM at White Family Funeral Home in Bowie, Texas.

Gary was born on April 3rd, 1944 in Bowie, Texas to Ruby Matthews Cornelison and Joseph Virgil(JV) Cornelison.

Gary graduated from Bowie High School in 1962. After graduation Gary attended Lon Morris Junior College in East Texas and Sam Houston State University on a basketball scholarship, earning his bachelor and masters degree. Later Gary attended Argosy University in Sarasota, Florida earning his doctorate in education.

Gary coached basketball and taught for many years in South Texas. Gary loved to travel, fish, and play golf.

Gary was preceded in death by his daughter Heather Lynn Cornelison, beloved grandmother Effie Cornelison, parents Ruby Matthews and Joseph Virgil(JV) Cornelison, brothers Travis Wayne Cornelison and Billy Don Cornelison, and nephew Ray Cornelison, Jr.

Gary is survived by his granddaughter Autumn Cornelison of Alto, brother Ray Cornelison and wife Patricia of Bridgeport, sister-in-law Linda Cornelison of Henrietta, sister-in-law Sherry Reynolds Cornelison of Dallas, two great-granddaughters, and many nieces and nephews.
