George Head, 74 of Sunset, TX, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, August 27th, 2021 in Wichita Falls, TX.
A memorial service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 2nd, at the First United Methodist Church in Bowie, TX.
George was born March 8th, 1947 in Little Rock, AR to Carl and Opal (Curtis) Head. He was raised in a military family, and grew up in Arkansas, Kansas, Texas, Alaska, and Germany. As a young man he joined the United States Marine Corps, and served 8 and half years for his country including the Vietnam War. Just prior to his deployment, George married Kathy Wright on March 8, 1968. Following the war, the service took the family to Camp Pendleton, CA, Hawaii, 29 Palms, CA, and the Panama Canal Zone. Civilian life brought the family to Texas, and they settled in the Dallas- Fort Worth area. George attended a trade school and became a computer repair technician.
After many years of searching, George and Kathy found a 10 acre piece of land in Sunset, TX and finally were able to make it their permanent home. The two of them took to the road, driving a truck until Kathy's health declined. The couple then started a small crafting business, selling their creations. George dedicated his life to taking care of Kathy; caring for her during her final years as her health was failing. He then took time to enjoy his retirement, raising chickens, volunteering where he was needed, solving the world's problems over coffee at the Dairy Queen, and spending time with his church family at the First United Methodist Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and wife Kathleen Ann Head.
George is survived by his sons Harold Head and wife Dona of Coppell, TX and Chris Head and wife Dinah of Kearns, UT; grandchildren Samantha Lynn, Sabrina Jeanette and Anna-Lee; great-grandchildren Chyenne and Levi; sister Fran Smith; and brothers Carl Head Jr. and Richard Head.
Should friends desire, in lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the First United Methodist Church at 1515 Jefferson St. Bowie, TX 76230.
Arrangements entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home of Bowie, TX.

George I will miss your smiling face. Seeing you always brightened my day. I know you and Kathy are dancing in heaven once again. I'm glad your at peace. Your friend, Beverly
George had such dignity. He was so in love with Kathy. He was a very determined and methodical man. A proud Marine waiting for the Marine birthday party. I can see you dancing with Kathy. You took care of orphans and widows and my auntie. Such a classy man. He had many talks with Jesus and even near death, you gave us strength to accept your soon Home-going. You are no longer in pain or loneliness. Aunt Jo said you were a hero bigger than John Wayne. A Christian who followed his faith and who had friends at every church around. You accepted us as we were. If more people were like that...I thank my God upon every remembrance of you. I won't forget the Navy hymn.-MPS
