Grover Lee Watkins, 82 of Vashti, TX, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 5th, 2021.
Funeral services will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 10th, at the Vashti United Methodist Church, with Rev. Ryan Elms officiating.
Burial will follow at Vashti Cemetery.
Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 9th, at the White Family Funeral Home in Bowie, TX.
Grover was born October 20th, 1938 in Bowie, TX to Grover Cleveland and Cordia Mae (Jackson) Watkins. He graduated from Bellevue High School. Grover worked in the oilfield until 1984, then became the caretaker of the Vashti Cemetery up until his passing. The cemetery was his passion, and he worked almost everyday keeping the grounds looking nice. Grover was a member of the Vashti United Methodist Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents, son David Watkins, daughter-in-law Angie Watkins, and granddaughter Kandi Watkins.
Grover is survived by his son Danny Watkins and wife Cori of Bellevue; grandchildren Kody Watkins of Wichita Falls, Andy Watkins of Vashti, Tyler Watkins of Bowie, Ashley Watkins of Vashti, Dusty Watkins of Whitesboro, Cheyenne Watkins of Bowie, Destiny Watkins of College Station, Shelby Laughlin of Colorado, and Jakob Watkins of Bellevue; great-grandchildren Isaiah Watkins, Maci Watkins, Mason Watkins, Raelyn Porter, Noble Watkins, Anthony Monsivais, and Decklynn Watkins.
Should friends desire, memorials can be made in honor of Grover to the Vashti Cemetery Association at 4400 FM 1288 S. Bellevue, TX 76228.
