Obituary For Jimmy Alton Truelock

Jimmy Alton Truelock, 84, was called home, February 28, 2026.

Jimmy was born in Houston, Texas on August 26, 1941, to Johnny Alton and Maggie Pearl (Graham) Truelock. He was raised in Houston.

He met and married the love of his life in high school and married Gaynell Reynolds on Friday, May 13, 1960. Jimmy was a self-made man and superior mechanic. He could and did work on anything. He worked and loved the time he was at Astroworld Theme Park as a park ride mechanic and maintenance man. He retired from Reliant Energy Generation Plant, as a large equipment operator in 2002. By then they had already made their way to Bowie, Texas. After retirement they fulfilled a lifelong dream of traveling in a motorhome to see the country. Together they loved the State Parks. Jimmy never did anything without his wife. He was the full-time caregiver for her for the last 10 years of her life. In his younger life he was a member of the Texas State Guard and a volunteer fireman/fire chief for many years. In 1970 he moved his family from Houston to Anderson, TX where they lived until their final move to Bowie, TX in 1995. He and Gaynell raised ostriches for many years in Anderson, although she loved it more than he did. He had all daughters and always referred to his family as “the girls”. He was a great “girl dad”.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 63 years. His is survived by his daughter and family; Gaylynn and Mark Burris, grandson, Ethan and Jessica Burris and great grandchildren, Myka Mae and Elliot, all of Bowie; daughter and family, Cindy Kay Bandt, of New Waverly, TX, granddaughter, Rachel and Bradley Klawinsky and great grandsons, Stanton and Colson, of Montgomery, TX; granddaughter, Holly and Tim Harris, great granddaughters, Rylynn and Madilyn, of College Station, TX; daughter and family, Sandra Bushnell, grandson Cody Meece and granddaughter, Kalyn Wosnitsky. His sweet companion, Kathy Greene of Bowie, TX. One brother and three sisters; David and Patty Truelock, Debbie Meier, Sandy Jaks, and Janice Nichols. Many nieces and nephews and the friends he made over the years at the “Coffee Table” in the Bowie Dairy Queen.

Send flowers to the service of Jimmy Alton Truelock
