Karen “Darlene” Greenwood Harrell, 63 of Forestburg, TX, passed away Sunday, October 25, 2020. Funeral services will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 30, at the Forestburg United Methodist Church, with Pastor Chuck Jestis officiating. Burial will follow at Singletary Cemetery in Forestburg. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Darlene was born October 25, 1957 in Bowie, TX to Buford and Hazel (Echols) Greenwood. She attended Forestburg High School and graduated from Texas Woman's University in 1992. Darlene worked at United Healthcare for 19 years as a Medical Surgical Technician until she moved back to Forestburg to care for her parents. Darlene was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her grandchildren and embraced every moment with them. She had a quiet resolve and often put the needs of others above her own. She enjoyed collecting vases, reading her Bible, and her morning coffee. Karen “Darlene” Harrell was a constant in an ever-changing world and she will be deeply missed and never forgotten. She is preceded in death by her father Buford Greenwood. Darlene is survived by her son Terrell Johnston and wife Alicia of Forestburg; mother Hazel Greenwood of Forestburg; sisters Karla Parsons of North Carolina and Nancy Greenwood Dunn of Saint Jo; granddaughter Lindsey Johnston of Forestburg; and grandsons Jason Johnston of Forestburg and Austin Fraser of Tennessee.
