I haven't seen Wassie in years but was always the sweetest man with a heart for the Lord. I loved singing with him. He and my mother (Greta) were long time friends. His legacy is one to be long remembered. Shelly St. John Cantwell
Wassie was my first cousin. We swam in Denton Creek, rode horses together, ate watermelons right in the field, picked some tomatoes, hid in the cellar when a storm brewed. His Dad, and my uncle, would announce that a storm was brewing and to head for the cellar where all the canning jars were stored. I just knew there was some huge snake waiting to get me In that deep and dark hole. Ate His mothers wonderful chocolate cake. Shopped at the grocery store in downtown Forestburg Got Grapettes and peanut patties . My mother and I got out of dodge when the rains came as red clay roads were like glass. And back then there were canyons to fall into. Great memories. Sitting on the porch waving to passesrs by,, Wassie playing and singing. Would not take anything for these memories. Rest in Hank Williams peace, Wassie. He was your favorite.

I was very sad to hear the news about Wassie... A good friend & one of the last modern day renaissance men. Kindness and approachability were two of his most notable traits. He will be missed & long remembered. Ran Greanead
