Obituary For Lawrence Edward Hobbs

Lawrence Edward Hobbs, 88 of Bowie, TX, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 10th, 2025.

Funeral services will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 14th at the White Family Funeral Home in Bowie, with Doyle Wade officiating.

Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Bowie.

Lawrence was born in Rattan, OK on September 14, 1936 to Woodrow and Gladys (Dunham) Hobbs. On March 7, 1957, Lawrence married Shirley Adams in Rattan. Together they have two children, Debbie and Larry. Lawrence retired after 37 years with Southwest Automotive/ Ryder in Dallas, TX. He started out working as a jet engine mechanic and retired as a supervisor. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing dominos. Lawrence and Shirley loved traveling together, all over North America. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and will be remembered with love and appreciation for all he did and taught his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his son-in-law, Eric Mancil and granddaughter Delaney Mancil.

Lawrence is survived by his wife of 68 years, Shirley Hobbs of Bowie; children, Debbie Mancil of Alvord and Larry Hobbs and wife Dede of Bogota, TX; grandchildren, Stephanie Darnell and husband Charles of Alvord, William Hobbs and wife Crissy of Pittsburg, TX, Denim Denise Hobbs of Justin, TX, Shyenna Ivie of Liberty, NC and Jordan Pritchett of Tushka, OK; and great-grandchildren, Aspen and Oliva Darnell, Logan and Faith Hobbs and Luke and Colt Ivie.
