Lela May Biles Pope departed this life on Monday, June 6th, 2022, at 95 years of age.
Funeral services will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 11th, at the White Family Funeral Home in Bowie, TX, with Dr. Tony Rogers officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Bowie.
Lela was born March 31, 1927 in Chattanooga, OK to Gertie Ogden Biles and Henry Guy Biles. Her first marriage produced a daughter, Lois. Lela married George William Pope, Sr. in 1950 and together they raised 2 children, Bill and Pauline. Lela was a dedicated member and Sunday School teacher at Southside Baptist Church in Bowie, TX since 1988.
She is preceded in death by her father, mother, three sisters, Patricia Ross, Joyce Shelton and Lois Marie Biles, husband George, Sr. and beloved son George, Jr.
Lela is survived by her daughters, Lois Meza and Pauline Pope Crowder; 6 grandchildren: Krysta Pope (Jeremy), Erin Pope Robinson (Eric), Dacia Crowder (Cleotis), Alanna Crowder Martin (Delshon), Channing Crowder (Aja) and Brittany. She leaves behind 13 great grandchildren: Jade Salis, Miles Ricks, Maliq Martin, Nyla Martin, DaMon Martin, Channing Crowder III, Ava Crowder, Chaz Crowder, Deacon Robinson, McKenna Robinson, Maddoc Pecina, Andrew & Ryan.

I was her first grandchild. I remember being little and calling her "my Memaw" and she would say "my Krysta"😊 We said that to each other a lot in those last few days❤️ May she finally rest in the arms of her Lord in pure love and light. Blessed be Memaw.
