Mary Josephine Kirby, 83, of Montague, TX, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, October 4, 2025, in Plano, TX.
A memorial service will take place on Friday, October 17th, at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Montague, with Rev. Micky Miller officiating.
Mary Josephine was born March 16, 1942, in Floydada, TX to Lester Marion and Irene (Warren) Britton. She married the love of her life, Weldon Wade Kirby, on October 14, 1961. The two resided in Richardson, TX, for many years until relocating to Montague County. Mary Jo worked as a dedicated bookkeeper for many years, until retiring from the Grace Care Center of Nocona, TX. She was a loyal member of the First Baptist Church of Montague, where she played the organ and tended to many other responsibilities. Mary Jo was very classy, a lady who loved to look her best and had a smile for all. She will be remembered for her selfless devotion to her family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Weldon; their son, Monty Kirby; and her sisters: June Ellis, Norma Bryant, and Marion Britton.
Mary Jo is survived by her daughter, Kristi Stover, and husband Steve; brothers Bobby Britton and wife Dorothy, and James Britton; grandchildren Rocky Roberts and Riley Walker; numerous nieces and nephews; and her loving church family.
