Obituary For Mary Sue Taylor

Mary Sue Horton Taylor, 86, of Nocona, Texas peacefully went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, May 25, 2026, in Bowie, Texas.

A private memorial service will be held by the family at a later date.

Sue was born January 16, 1940, in Post Oak to Robert and Fay (Pollard) Horton. She attended Bowie High School and later married the love of her life, Robert “Bobby” Taylor, on July 14, 1956, at First Baptist Church, Bellevue. Together they shared 63 devoted years of marriage, building a life centered on faith, family, and hard work.

Sue dedicated much of her life to serving others through her career. She worked for Arrington Oil Company as a Bookkeeper for 10 years before continuing her work at Goodyear Tire for two years. She later spent five years at Bowie National Bank as a Loan Secretary, then seven years as Office Manager for The Bowie News. Sue concluded her professional career as Vice President and Commercial Lender for Frost Bank in Hulen, where she faithfully served for 17 years before retiring.

Sue and Bob called Bowie their home for 28 years before moving to White Settlement in 1984. Following retirement, they fulfilled a lifelong dream by embarking on a year-long excursion to Alaska. When they returned, they settled in Nocona and built their dream home on Lake Nocona, where they enjoyed the beauty of lake life and treasured time with family and friends throughout their remaining years together.

Sue will be remembered for her strong faith, loving heart, unwavering devotion to her family, and the kindness she extended to everyone she met. She found her greatest joy in spending time with her children, grandchildren, and growing generations of great- and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bobby Taylor; her parents, Robert and Fay Horton; her brothers, Wallace Horton and Clovis Horton; her sisters, Glenna Reynolds and Paula Henson; her grandson, Brenn Taylor; and her great-granddaughter, Taylor Ann Weber.

Sue is survived by her daughter, Saprina Storey and husband Mike of Nocona; her son, Mike Taylor and wife Sandy of Noble, Oklahoma; and her daughter, Jenny Kutz and husband Ron of Nocona. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Jeremy Walker and wife Bibha of San Tan Valley, Arizona; Amber Walker of Bowie; Brady Taylor and wife Alexis of Lexington, Oklahoma; Emily Weber and husband Kolby of Nocona; Jake Hopkins and wife Jessica of Fort Worth; Lauren Houston and husband Jermi of Booneville, Arkansas; and Lindsey Hunt and husband Jordan of Fort Worth.

She was further blessed with 21 great-grandchildren: Jessica, Sadie, Prince, Ryder, Jaxon, Faith and husband Phillip, Amanda, Sage, Emma, Noah, Presley, Landon, Brooks, Owen, Bennie, Georgia, Landri, JD, Lilah, and Samuel; as well as five great-great-grandchildren: Silas, Ryot, Haven, Phillip, and Embrie.

Sue is also survived by her sister, Donna Dow and husband Jack of Bowie; her sister-in-law, Carolyn Osborn of Lewisville; her brother-in-law, Bill Henson of Nocona; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt love and gratitude to Tosha, Chancey, Gail, and Glenda for the care, support, and companionship they provided to Sue during her final days, and to Paul and Darlene Horton, for their special visits and kindness.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the charity of your choice in Sue’s memory.
