Obituary For Mildred Penn

Mildred “June” Penn, 91 of Bowie, TX, went to be with the Lord on Monday, October 30th, 2023 in Decatur, TX.

Funeral services will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 4th, at Eastside Baptist Church in Bowie, with Brother Bill Calabretta officiating. Family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at the church.

Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery.

June was born January 4, 1932, in Salona, TX to Reverend Charlie and Covella (Brigance) Wells. She graduated from Bowie High School in 1951. On April 7, 1972, June married Robert “Bob” Wesley Penn in Waurika, OK, and spent her days as a homemaker.

June was very creative. She was a great seamstress and loved making quilts for her family and working with ceramics. June was a longtime member of Eastside Baptist Church in Bowie.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Covella Wells; her husband, Robert W. Penn, son, Byron D. Reed, infant daughter, Keila Reed, grandson, James W. Reed, brother Billy C. Wells, sisters, Wanda M. Woolf and Jimmie L. Ralls.

June is survived by her son, Floyd Reed and wife Rhonda; stepchildren, Ed Carter and wife Jane, Lee Anne Banks and husband Glen, Beverly Colby and husband Al, Bonita Penn, Wanda Faulkner, and Laura Harrison and husband Jay; grandchildren, Matt Reed and wife Brandy, Adam Reed, Rowdy Reed, C.J. Reed and wife Ashley, and Bodie Reed and wife Colee; granddaughter-in-law, Ashley Reed; great-grandchildren, Mason Reed, Carter Reed, Piper Reed, Colby Reed, Chloe Reed, and Oliva Reed; brother, Lloyd Wells and wife Susan of Conroe, TX; sister, Wilma Sue Rolls of Oklahoma, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
