BOWIE, TX – Norma Jean Taylor, 92, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away Monday, May 31, 2021, in Wichita Falls, TX after a long and blessed life.

A graveside service will be held at Elmwood Cemetery in Bowie, TX on June 10 at 10 a.m. Her sons, Jeff and Joe Taylor, will offer a brief eulogy and message of encouragement from God’s Word. Rev. Mike Henson, her longtime friend and pastor, will also assist with the graveside service. Details for this service will be entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home in Bowie.

Jean was born January 10, 1929, to Louise and Herbert Rogers. She married Jeff Taylor on August 20, 1952, in Bowie. She deeply loved the Lord, her family, and her friends. She loved watching her kids live out their lives, whether it was in sports, music, academics or in their careers and families. She loved learning to play the organ and piano. She loved eating at the local Dairy Queen with dear friends. She was a cheerful and joyful lady to be around.

She was a devoted wife, mother, and friend. She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church, Bowie, and sang in the choir for many years, as well as volunteered for many committees and ministries there. She was active in Sunday School, the community and in the lives of those around her. She deeply loved the town of Bowie that she called home for so long.

Jean was preceded in death by her mother, Louise, and father, Herbert; her husband, Jeff, her daughter, Vickie and her son, Danny; a grandson, Donny Hill, and a great grandson, Cory Hill. Jean is survived by her children, Jeff (and Wilma) from Irvine, CA; Joe (and Julie) from Reno, NV; Julie (and Jim Johnson) from Wichita Falls, TX and a sister, Elizabeth Faulkner of Casa Grande, AZ. She is also survived by ten grandchildren: David (Bonnie), Michelle, Daniel, Micah (Nikki), Emily (Jared), Cal (Sarah), Samuel, Luke (Mallori), Hannah (Joey), and Grace; four great grandchildren: Jamie, Anna, Jack and Walker, as well as six great, great grandchildren and a host of other family members, loved ones and friends.

In her personal Bible is a marked verse that says: Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in Me will live, even though they die.” (John 11:25). We are confident this is now realized by Jean in heaven with her Lord.

The family offers a heartfelt “thank you” to everyone who loved, aided, and supported Jean throughout her long and fulfilling life. Each of you are deeply cherished. The family’s grief is made so much lighter because of each of you who loved Jean. May our great God be with you all.
