Ronnie Bill Evans, 79, passed away after a long, tough valiant fight with lung cancer on Tuesday, September 21, 2021, at his home in Jolly, TX.
Funeral services will take place at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, September 24th, at the First Baptist Church of Jolly, with Rev. David Odom officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
Burial will follow the service at Elmwood Cemetery in Bowie, TX.
Ronnie was born November 11, 1941 in Bowie, TX to Bill and Faye (Cooper) Evans. He spent most of his days in the oil field and had so many great stories to tell of his experiences, those stories usually included funny shenanigans by he, and his coworker friends. He ended his working career at the Texas State Railroad Commission.
Ronnie loved taking road trips, all over the state of Texas, and he especially loved his and Nancy's annual Fall trips to Red River, New Mexico. When his kids were little, they absolutely loved the yearly vacations to Colorado with Daddy at the wheel of the station wagon, singing and whistling (usually out of tune) along with the radio.
He is preceded in death by his parents Bill and Faye Evans, his son David Evans and his best buddy Bosque.
Ronnie is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 34 years Nancy, his sister Betty Dorman and husband Gene of Bowie; sons Craig Evans and wife Carol of Broken Arrow and Doug Evans of Wichita Falls; and daughter Janet Ehling and husband Richard of Wichita Falls; and his furry friend Simon. Ronnie was known as “Gramps” to his grandchildren, Gregory, Chelsea and Thomas.
Should friends desire, memorials can be made in honor of Ronnie to the First Baptist Church of Jolly at 321 Mowery St. Jolly, TX 76310.
