Obituary For Theodore R. Beggs Jr.

Mr. Theodore R. (Ted) Beggs Jr., of Nocona, passed from this life on July 29 in Bridgeport, Texas.

A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church of Montague, Texas on Saturday, August 9, at 11:00 a.m., with Bro. Micky Miller officiating.

Ted was born September 6, 1933, in Jack County, Texas, to Theodore R. Beggs Sr. and Hazel Smith Beggs. He was the fifth of fourteen children. He grew up in a farming and ranching culture and learned the value of family, hard work, and perseverance.

Ted was an outstanding mechanic for over 25 years. He eventually owned and ran his own diesel shop in Meridian, Tx. He then entered the construction business, cleaning up around new homes and doing yard grading in the Arlington and Fort Worth area for many years. After moving to the Montague area, Ted and his wife Shirley bought the Mine and Yours feed store in Bowie and operated it for several years.

He loved to work and always had something going outside of his regular occupation to help provide for his family. He loved spending time with family, riding and training horses, taking care of his cows, working with Shirley to keep their place looking beautiful, and telling Jerry Clower stories, his favorite country humorist. He was very much loved by his family and friends and will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife of 54 years, Shirley Beggs, daughter Vicky Boyd Jeffries, and granddaughter Candace Beggs.

Ted is survived by his children, Dale Beggs of Henrietta, Tx, Darrel Beggs and wife Denise of Hillsboro, Tx, Billy Beggs and wife Carol of Aledo, Tx, and Amanda Chudej of Nocona, Tx; grandchildren Dottie (Danny), Kati, T.J., Casey (Kasey), Shannon, December, Chelsea, Charis (Kyle), Jeremy (Sarah Jane), Halston (Alena), Presley (Claire), Peggy (Adam), Rhett, Evan, Cody (Jamie), and Ashley; numerous great and great-great grandchildren and other family members.

He was a lifelong Baptist and a member of First Baptist Church of Montague.

The family would like to express deepest gratitude to the administration and staff of the Bridgeport Medical lodge for their loving care of “Teddy.”

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Ted’s memory to Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch, 600 SW 11th Ave. Amarillo, TX 79101-3228, or on their website.

Arrangement entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home of Bowie, Texas.
