The beautiful Florence Priscilla Swink Askin gained her heavenly wings on January 11, 2021. Florence was born in Atlanta, Georgia on October 21, 1929 to the parents of Robert Swink and Mozell Jackson. As a native of Atlanta, Florence attended Atlanta Public Schools and was a 1948 graduate of Booker T. Washington High School. Florence met and married her husband, the late Robert Askin November 22,1947. To this union they were blessed with four sons in which one preceded her in death - Ricky Askin. Florence and Robert were proud residents of the Vine City community. She and her husband were active members of Mount Ephraim Baptist Church under the leadership of the honorable Dr. R.L White, Jr. Florence was a faithful member of the R.L. White Gospel Chorus until her health begin to decline. Florence’s beautiful spirit and outgoing personality would light up any room. Her sense of humor and positive mindset always shined through her words of encouragement and moments of truth. Florence’s love was felt through everything she did from being a caring mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and aunt, to cooking, crocheting, and taking care of people. Professionally, Florence worked at Stencils of Atlanta and later retired from Georgia State University in food and dining services. She is proceeded in death by her husband Robert Askin Sr, son Ricky Askin, mother, Mozell Donaldson, and sister Betty Hunter. She leaves to cherish her memory three sons, Robert Jr. (Jovado), Jerry Askin (Yvette), Calvin Howell (Angie), two sisters; Joan Gomillion (Vince), and Juanita Taylor (Joseph); ten grandchildren; Sequathia Askin, Diedre Askin, Eric Askin, Bernita Todd, Tanisha Howell, Troy Howell, Sante Askin, Jerry, Askin Jr, Jalecia Askin and Javaris Askin; sixteen great grandchildren and two great- great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. We all know that God doesn’t make any mistakes. While she will be sorely missed, and a void will be left in everyone who she touched heart. Florence transitioned peacefully in her sleep on January 11, 2021. She spent her final moments covered with love and support from close family and friends. She will now unite with her personal Lord and Savior and join her husband and other family members in eternal peace.
