He was a great next door neighbor. I'm in shock. Although I recently moved away, I can still hear him say, "Hey, neighbor." My nephew would go visit him each time he visited from New York, so they could shoot the breeze. One time they got stuck on I-20 when that little red truck, which John seemed to love, broke down. I waved at him in the yard the last time I visited the old neighborhood. I wish I had stopped to shoot the breeze for a minute.
