Slack, Manny (Clark) and I drove, with two other guys, from Charlotte to Augusta to see Lee Elder play in the 1975 Masters. It was historic and I'll never forget that. But the trip is one so amazing that we still talked about as recently as the last time we spoke. I shall miss you. Rest In Peace my old friend. I'll see you later.
A true industry leader, talent and star and is solely the reason I ever sat behind a microphone after hearing him on WGIV in Charlotte. Deepest condolences to his family and I'm sure they're listening to the "Slick Slack Showgram" between 3-7 PM in heaven daily
My condolences to the family, Slack was Greensboro's And Dudley High's Hero. I have known him since I was A kid ,great people ,DJ ,/. Music Producer . He was also great in political satIre .Peace Brother.❤️ Jerry Jeffries
I worked with Slack many, many years ago on 1510 WEAL in Greensboro. He was known as Slick Slack on the air then. He always kept me laughing. I enjoyed working with him. Tony "B".
I called him Slackson. He was the only one to ever call me Peckypoo. We spent several eventful years together at Elektra Recods. Slackson is a giant of a man in every sense of the word. His positive contagious energy was always present. I miss his family solace and strength during this difficult time. Slackson will be missed but certainly not forgotten.
I called him Slackson. He called me Peckypoo. The only person ever to do that I might add. We spent several years together at Elektra Records. Slackson always had a smile on his face as successfully and professionally did his job. Like everyone else I was shocked and saddened to hear of his passing. He will definitely be missed but certainly not forgotten. I wish his family strength and the solace that their loved one was a special guy.
I used to call him Slackson and he was the only person in my life that called me peckiepoo. We worked side by side at Elektra for many years. Slackson always had a smile on his face. I thought of him as a quiet giant. Like everybody else I was shocked and saddened to hear he had passed. Although he will be missed he will never be forgotten. I pray for his soul and if I am fortunate enough we will meet again in the afterlife so we can greet each other like we used to. Rest In Peace Slackson, you are a great man, worker and most importantly friend
Slack connected with a completely square, poorly cast, bad promotion person (myself) and became my guy. Always there for you. Funny, loyal. The epitome of the South. And good at what he did. Loved the business. Slack, we are all and certainly I am better cuz I knew you, learned from you and admired you. Now rest my brother. You did the damn thing... Herb Trawick
I miss your FB posts and the many times you provoked laughter just when I needed it. I am thrilled that you were deservedly inducted into the James B. Dudley High School Hall of Fame & Hall of Distinction. Your humor, your talent for promoting and DJing as well as your management skills will forever be remembered and respected. Miss you my friend...but will never forget you.
Slack was my buddy. I remember him when he was a record promotor and came by WGIV in Charlotte. Last time I talked to him, he had me laughing so hard! Such a sweet and funny man that I and all who knew, will miss. RIP, Slackster!
