MR. BENJAMIN “BENNY” WESLEY HAWKINS – Age 71, - Of Calhoun, Georgia passed away on Thursday, July 9, 2020. He was born on September 26, 1948 in the Curryville Community, Georgia to the late Albert Hawkins and Bessie Louise Printup Hawkins. He was preceded by his son Trayce Hawkins, former wife, Carolyn Hawkins, brother, Albert “Jimmy” Hawkins, and twin sister, Bettye Baugh. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church and a United States Army Veteran.
Survivors are his loving and devoted wife, Reta Curtis Hawkins of Calhoun, Georgia; sister, Martha Hawkins Shaw; sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law; uncle, Hiram (Linda) Hawkins; special nieces and nephews, Wendy (Henry) Wise, Devi (Gerald) Prather, Chiquita Douglas, Rhonda (Steve) Russell; several great nieces, great nephews, cousins, other relatives; a very special friend, Velix Benjamin, and other friends.
Graveside Service and Interment will be held on Wednesday July 15, 2020 at 11:00 A. M. at the Georgia National Cemetery, 2025 Mount Carmel Church Lane, Canton, Georgia with Military Honors with Minister Lamar Curtis and Minister Wayne Curtis, officiating. His remains will lie in state at the funeral home on Tuesday after 12:00 noon until 8:00 P. M. Service will be recorded and uploaded to the Willis Funeral Home, Inc. Facebook account after the service. Arrangements entrusted Willis Funeral Home, Inc., Dalton, Georgia.

Benny Hawkins was a kind gentleman and I remember him fondly as part of CHS graduating class of 1967. His smile and love of others will always be remembered.
