Obituary For Bertie Lee Whitener

MRS. BERTIE LEE BARRETT WHITENER- Age 74, Of Chattanooga, Tennessee passed away Friday, May 15, 2015 at Parkridge Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her mother, Thelma Chaney, father, N. J. Barrett, stepfather, Frank Chaney, Jr., two brothers, Johnny and James “Spergin” Barrett, husband, Ralph Whitener, Jr., father of her children, Jerry Duke O’Neal, grandmother, Gertrude Barrett, aunt, Vinella Hooks, and cousin, Rita Nell Austin. She is survived by her daughter, Vanessa O’Neal of Dalton, Georgia; two sons, Kenneth O’Neal of Atlanta, Georgia and Jerry O’Neal, Jr. of Cohutta, Georgia; granddaughter, Saraya O’Neal of Rocky Face, Georgia; one great granddaughter, McKasmyne Bonds of Dalton; one great grandson, McKylond Avery O’Neal of Varnell, Georgia; sister, Teresa (Ralph) Cochran of Varnell; brothers, Thomas Barrett of Atlanta and Jeffery Chaney of Irving, Texas; special cousins, Tambara Austin and Jase Gregg; nieces, Cortney Cochran, Debra (Choice) Binns, and Jordan Chaney; nephews, Chris (Tina) Barrett, Michael Barrett, Anthony Barrett, Jay Chaney, and Jeffrey Chaney; a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Funeral Service will be held Saturday, May 23, 2015 at 1:00 P.M. in the Chapel with Rev. Rodney Weaver, eulogist, Rev. John Hall, Rev. Junior Williams, and other ministers officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 5:00 until the funeral hour. Interment, Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Cohutta, Georgia.
