MR. CHARLES FRANKLIN DWIGHT – Age 82, of Dalton, Georgia passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 19, 2026 at his residence. He was born on December 27, 1943 to the late Bessie Mae Barrett Dwight and William McKinley Dwight, Sr. Mr. Dwight was a United States Army Veteran of the Vietnam War and was Honorably Discharged. He was preceded by his sister, Wanda Dwight, brothers, Walter, Robert, Ernest, William McKinley, Jr., Ashier, Dwight, daughter, Minister Cynthia Taylor, and son, Clarence “Buster” Gainor.
Precious loving memories will remain with his loving and devoted wife of fifty-two years, Lily Mae “Ann” Dwight; sons, Chris (Tina) Barrett, Minister Bernard (Minister Vicki) Gee, Minister Leland Asa Dwight, daughter, Denise (Joel) Wilson; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Catherine Rogers, Elnora James, Katie Gainor, Minister Elaine (James) Green, Sheila Clark; brothers-in-law, George (Shirley) Gainor, Pastor Charles Michael (Florence) Gainor, Rev. Guy Keith Gainor; nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family; special friend, Lenny Williams, and other friends.
Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, July 24, 2026 at 11:00 A. M. at the Willis Funeral Home Chapel, 2011 Martin L. King, Jr. Blvd., Dalton, Georgia with Rev. Guy Keith Gainor as Eulogist and Elder Windell Smith as Presider. His remains will lie in state at the funeral home on Thursday after 12:00 noon until the funeral hour. Interment with Full Military Rites will be at the Chattanooga National Cemetery, Chattanooga, Tennessee at 2:00 P. M. Arrangements entrusted to Willis Funeral Home, Inc., Dalton, Georgia.
