MRS. CHARLOTTE JEWEL CHANEY - Age 84, of Dalton, Georgia passed away Saturday, December 25, 2021. She was born on November 11, 1937 in Chattooga County, GA. She spent many years at Steele Street Church of Christ in LaFayette, GA and later at Central Church of Christ in Dalton, GA. After 24 years, she retired as an LPN from Hamilton Medical Center in Dalton, GA. She loved baking and always wanted to be remembered as “the cake lady” because she loved baking pound cakes for people. She also enjoyed cooking, sewing, visiting nursing homes (where she would share small stuffed animals with the elderly) and passing out cards to share the gospel with anyone she met. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dock, Sr. and Hattie Allgood Echols Chaney, brothers, Harold Echols, Abb Echols, Ben Echols, Dock Bailey Chaney, Jr., and Charles Raymond Chaney, sisters, Mary Ruth Suttle, Louise Womble, Carrie Chaney, Shirley Jean Chaney, and Dorothy Chaney.
She is survived by her loving daughters, Renee Mathis and Regina Dillon; grandchildren, Mose Mathis, III, Eurskia Dillon, and Mica Dillon; great grandchildren, Jaysia Yasmene Dillon, Cassius Lindsey, Zyon Lee, T’yanah Lee, and Xoeigh Lee; special niece, Barbara McCutchins; sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Funeral Service will be Sunday, January 2, 2022, at Willis Funeral Home at 2:00 P. M. with Bro. Michael Houston as Eulogist. Her remains will lie in state on Saturday after 11:00 A. M. at the funeral home until the funeral hour. Interment; West Hill Cemetery. Due to Covid-19 Regulations and guidelines, masks are required for those attending the service and social distancing. As long as I can remember, Aunt Charlotte had the biggest and prettiest smile that you could ever see. I know she is in Heaven smiling and watching over her family that she left on earth. My prayers for her love ones is that God's love will provide you with comfort and peace in the days and weeks to come. I love you all.
