Obituary For Deacon Herl Bonds

DEACON HERL BONDS – Age 90, - Of Dalton, Georgia passed away on Friday, October 27, 2017 at Dalton Place Assisted Living. He was born in Murray County on September 1, 1927 to the late Mr. Jim Bonds and Mrs. Bessie Gilbert Bonds. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pearl Lee O’Neal Bonds, son, James Bonds, two sisters, Jeanette Reeves and Jessie Mae Miller, brothers, Charles, James, Morris, Fred, Johnny, and Joe Bonds. He was retired from the First Union Bank, life member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, member of the Prince Hall Masonic Lodge #238, NAACP, Bonds Brothers Gospel Group, and the Gospel Songbirds. He is survived by his daughter, Reba (Lane) Jackson, son, Johnny (Paulette) Bonds, of Dalton, Georgia; daughters-in-law, Jeaney Bonds, and Mary Bonds; seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren; brother, Clarence (Liz) Bonds of Atlanta, Georgia; sisters-in-law, Wilma Bonds, Ida Bonds, of Dalton; special friend, Maggie Smith; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at 1:00 P. M. at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 2014 Martin L. King, Jr. Blvd., Dalton with Rev. William Harvey as Eulogist and Pastor Edward Hoggs, Presiding. His remains will lie in state at the funeral home on Tuesday after 11:00 A. M. and the family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 7:00 – 8:00 P. M. Interment, West Hill Cemetery with Dalton Lodge #238 Masonic Rites.
