DR. LISA MANLY ?Çô Born January 23, 1959, claimed the promise of the resurrection on Tuesday, February 28, 2012, surrounded by her family. Lisa was an honor graduate of Dalton High (?ÇÖ77) and a ?ÇÖ81 Cum Laude grad of Vanderbilt University. She earned both a Master?ÇÖs Degree (?ÇÖ84) and a Ph.D. (?ÇÖ93) from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. Lisa was proud to work in the Dalton Public Schools as an Educator, Counselor, and School Psychologist. She retired in June 2008 after 27 years of dedicated service to the students, parents, teachers, and administrators of Dalton.A lifelong member of First UMC, Lisa was still an active participant of prayer and study groups at the time of her death. She witnessed to her faith and enhanced the congregation in many ways, including teaching in Children?ÇÖs Sunday School, singing with the Choir, serving on Staff-Parish Relations and Missions groups. Lisa encouraged others to reach for their goals, generously giving of her time and resources to make those dreams a reality. She leaves a legacy of determination, high standards, genuine concern and desire to be of service to others at home and abroad. She was an angel in the lives of many.Lisa is survived by her parents, Nann and Judson Manly, sisters Diane, Julie, brother Mike and wife Angie, nieces Kathleen, Abby, Maegen, Maggie, and husband Cameron, nephew Mark, dear friend Kathryn, aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of friends and colleagues.The family will receive visitors at Willis Funeral Home, 2011 M.L.King, Jr. Blvd. on Thursday, March 1, 2012 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. A Celebration of Life Worship Service will be held at First United Methodist Church, 500 S. Thornton Ave. at 3:00 P.M. Friday, March 2, 2012, followed by a time of fellowship with the family. The Rev. Dr. Robin Lindsay will officiate.Appreciation goes to all who have supported Lisa with prayer and for the compassionate care given by Claudia Reyes of Amedysis Home Healthcare and The Staff of Hospice.In lieu of flowers, donations in Lisa?ÇÖs memory can be made to First UMC, The Dalton Education Foundation, or your favorite charity.
