Obituary For Eva Mae Byron

MRS. EVA MAE BYRON- Age 92, of Summerville passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, December 29, 2023. Mrs. Byron was born August 22, 1931 to her late parents, Samuel Black, Sr. and Nannie Long Black, Sr. and was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Byron to whom she was married for over Forty Three years. Fifteen sibilings also predeceased her in death and she was a lifelong member of West Fifth Street Church of Christ. She graduated in 1964 from A.C. Carter High School, Cosmetology School, CNA training and retired from Mohawk Industries, Georgia Glove Mill and Oak View Nursing Home.

Survivors are her two daughters, Pamela (Donald) Wiggins of Summerville, GA., Jaquelina (David) Fain of Rome, GA., grandchildren, Orlando Nichols, Brian (Tameka) Griffin, Michael Evans, LaQuetta Evans of Rome, GA., Shellyse (Moshem) Khulpuwa of LaFayette, GA., sisters-in-law, Annie Black, Doris Shepherd, Jean Bankston, Louise Williams, brothers-in-law, Bro. Jesse James Bankston of Summerville, GA., Mactine Bankston of Troy, AL., and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral Service will be held Saturday, January 06, 2024 at 1:00 P.M. from West Fifth Street Church of Christ, 24 Fifth Street, Summerville, GA. 30747 with Bro. John Lewis and other Ministers officiating. The family will receive friends at the church one hour before the service. Interment, Summerville Cemetery. Arrangement’s entrusted to Willis Funeral Home, Dalton, Georgia

Ms. Byron was one of the sweetest ladies I have ever known. She always had a kind word and a smile for everyone she met. She will be missed by those who love her. Prayers for peace and comfort (John 14:27) for her precious family that she loved unconditionally.

Eva was a great lady! She worked at Bigelow/Sanford now Mohawk with my mother as I grew up. Later as I got older and got married the first time she was at my wedding. When she found out later that I had gotten a divorce, she said I was going to be ok. And I was. When I told my mother,MIldred Teems, that she had passed, she wished she was home so she could come pay her respect. Mom is not home right now but wanted me to relay to the family that she is praying for you all. And I am too. We know she will be missed but now she sings and laughs with angels. Ginger Teems Norton

Prayers for all of the family. Eva was one very special lady to the Jim and Shirley McDonald family. She was friends with Mother and Daddy and then when all five of us came along - she was always there for us. Such a kind and loving soul to everyone she met. She was a hard worker all of her life. Every time that I saw her she had a smile on her face. I am sure there is a special place in Heaven for her. She will be greatly missed.
