MR. GEORGE WASHINGTON BENNING, SR. - Age 75, of Cartersville, Georgia, formerly of Baltimore, Maryland passed away Sunday, February 22, 2026. He was born November 9, 1950. George is preceded in death by his son, Patrick Benning; parents, Lewie Benning, Sr. and Marie Byrd Benning; siblings, Lewie Benning, Jr., Leroy Benning, Melvin Benning, Dexter Benning, Ann Dickerson.
Those left to remember George’s memories are his loving wife of eleven years, Chandra Benning; children, Mineuittie Farley, Angela Davis, George Benning, Jr., Patrick Benning, Derick Benning, Catina Barnes, Walter Floyd, Sr., Tavon Ireland, Sr., and Jermaine Walker; siblings, Ida Pearl Means, Willie (Sarah) Benning, Amos (Michelle) Benning, and Calvin Benning; sisters-in-law, Georgia Benning, and Carrie Benning; brother-in-law, Ronald Dickerson; grandchildren; two special great grandchildren plus other great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives; and special feline pet, Sinbad.
Homegoing Celebration will be Tuesday, March 3, 2026 at 11:00 A.M. at Greater New Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church, 69 Cassville Rd, Cartersville, GA 30120 with Pastor Willie Coombs, Eulogist. The family will receive extended family and friends on Monday, March 2, 2026 from 6:00 P.M. – 7:30 P.M. at the church. Interment will take place Tuesday, March 3, 2026 at 1:00 P.M. at the Georgia National Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Willis Funeral Home, Inc., Dalton, GA.
