Hugo was a good friend. I'm proud to say we were close like brothers. It was an honor to serve with him. It was an honor to meet and spend time with his family. His parents should be proud of the man he was and the good memories he left behind. To his son, whom I never had the opportunity to meet, I send my deepest regards. My heart will always hurt for you and your Grandmother the most.

Wow, just wow, very heartbroken right now. Mendez was an amazing NCO... a True leader who cared about those around him.
Would a member of his family please put in a PGR request - https://www.patriotguard.org/request-the-pgr/ I would very much like the Honor of Standing a Flag Line for this fallen hero and to escort him to his final resting place.
