MR. JAMES WILLIS (“BILL”) BAKER – AGE 85, - Of Dalton, Georgia passed away on Saturday, December 9, 2023. He was born on November 22, 1938 to the late George Washington Baker and Evelyn Yates Baker. He was preceded by his wife, Marion Bonds and brother George Calvin Baker. He was employed at World Carpets and Mohawk Industries as a Company Truck Driver for over forty-three years. He was a member of the Baptist Faith. He enjoyed gardening, yard work, hunting, baseball, and cars.
Survivors are his loving son, Patrick Leverne Baker; one sister, Sarah Ruth Baker Hardson; three brothers, Henry (Myra) Baker, Perry Baker, and Johnny (Gloria) Baker; one aunt, Georgette Yates; devoted bonus daughter, Dorothy Beck; grandchildren, Kobie Willis Baker, Hylley Bates, Tevin Whistenut; great grandchildren; a dear friend, Cherry Hart; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins; godchild, Amber Beck; other relatives and friends.
Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, December 16, 2023 at 3:30 P. M. at the Chapel of Willis Funeral Home, 2011 Martin L. King, Jr. Blvd., Dalton, Georgia, 30721 with Dr. Jerry D. Jones and other Ministers officiating. His remains will lie in state at the funeral home on Friday after 12:00 noon on December 15, 2023. Interment, West Hill Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Willis Funeral Home, Inc., Dalton, Georgia.
Mr.Baker was my neighbor. I will never forget his kind gestures! Always offering us kids snacks and candies in the neighborhood. He truly loved taking care of his garden and home. May God bless his family. I will forever cherish the memories!
