Obituary For Joey Lavaunt Wiggins

MR. JOEY LAVAUNT WIGGINS - Age 69, of Lyerly, GA passed away Monday, May 26, 2025. He was born on July 24, 1955 to the late Merial and Geraldine McClendon Wiggins. He was a Veteran of the United States Army with the 82nd Airborne where he served as a Staff Sergeant with the Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Ribbon, and Army Achievement Medal. He was a graduate of Chattooga High School and a member of Pond Spring A. M. E. Zion Church. Siblings who preceded him are Mae Ellen Wiggins Smith, Roy Milton Wiggins, Francine Wiggins, Rose Marie Wiggins Powell, and Kelly Demonne Wiggins.

Survivors are his loving sister, Beverly (Donnie) McSears; two brothers, Merial (Jeanetta) Wiggins and Gary Jerome Wiggins; aunts, Bonita Bethea, and Letty Wiggins; special nephew, Charome Powell, a host of other loving nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, friends, and his church family.

Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, June 1, 2025 at 2:00 P. M. at Pond Spring A. M. E. Zion Church, 3255 Taliaferro Springs Road, Lyerly, Georgia 30730 with Apostle Dr. Jennifer London as Eulogist and Rev. Pastor Dr. Jeannette Turner Holt. The family will receive friends at the church one hour before the service. Interment, Chattanooga National Cemetery on Monday at 12:30 P. M. Arrangements entrusted to Willis Funeral Home, Inc., Dalton, Georgia.
